The Lungau has been declared a Biosphere park by the UNESCO World Heritage Organisation. This means that the Lungau is of an unprecedented natural beauty.

For those who can’t get enough, some of the most beautiful nature reserves in Austria are literally next door. Think of Biosphere parks as Nockberge, Naturpark Riedingtal and Nationalpark Hohe Tauern. The Lungau itself with its seven side valleys also offers you an overwhelmingly beautiful natural area to enjoy walking, cycling or mountain biking! There are hundreds of kilometres of walking / cycling and mountain bike routes available!

The 'Murradweg' (of the Lungau Muhr) of 345 km long is also a famous cycle route that runs through a large part of Austria. Traders once travelled south on this road, from the Salzburgerland to the Slovenian border. It is also very interesting to go into nature with the 'biosferenfexen’ (guides). They show the most beautiful natural area and an inform about the different plants and animals.
